Batkid Begins

2015 · Feature Documentary

The story of how a five-year-old boy's Make-A-Wish became a citywide phenomenon that captured the world's attention. Directed by Dana Nachman, Batkid Begins premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2015.

Synopsis

Batkid Begins tells the story of the Make-A-Wish event that turned San Francisco into Gotham City for a day, granting five-year-old leukemia survivor Miles Scott his wish to be Batman — and, in the process, becoming a viral phenomenon that brought an entire city, and the world, together. Directed by Dana Nachman, the film traces how a single wish, granted by thousands of volunteers and strangers, snowballed into a global media event, and asks what it means when an act of kindness outgrows the child it was meant for.
